A tall, smooth, purple-blotched plant with fern-like leaves and white lace-like flower heads, often mistaken for wild carrot or parsley.
In the garden
Do not grow it. It spreads along ditches and roadsides. Wear gloves and remove it carefully if it appears; never compost or burn it.
Take care
- Every part is deadly, and a small amount can kill a person.
- It looks like wild carrot, parsley, fennel and elderflower. Never eat a white-flowered umbel plant unless you are completely certain of it.
- Even handling it can irritate skin; wear gloves and wash up.
